UPOV PRISMA

UPOV PRISMA is an online application management system developed by the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants to simplify the filing of Plant Breeders’ Rights applications in participating jurisdictions.

The platform enables breeders, applicants, and representatives to prepare and submit plant variety protection applications electronically through a single interface. UPOV PRISMA provides access to participating plant variety offices, harmonized application forms, variety denomination management tools, and guidance on national filing requirements.

By reducing administrative burdens and standardizing application procedures, UPOV PRISMA helps applicants manage multi-jurisdictional filing strategies more efficiently. The system also supports the reuse of application data, reducing duplication and improving consistency across filings in different countries.

UPOV PRISMA is widely used by breeders seeking international protection for new plant varieties and forms an important part of the global plant variety protection system administered under the UPOV framework.
