Turkish Supreme Court

Turkish Supreme Court (Yargıtay) is the highest court of appeal for civil and criminal matters in Türkiye. It reviews decisions of first instance and regional appellate courts to ensure the correct and consistent application of the law.

The Court of Cassation does not re-examine facts but focuses on legal review, assessing whether lower courts have properly interpreted and applied legal rules. Its decisions play a crucial role in unifying jurisprudence and guiding judicial practice across the country.

The Court is composed of specialized chambers dealing with different areas of law, including civil, criminal, and commercial disputes. Through its General Assembly of Civil and Criminal Chambers, it resolves conflicts in case law and establishes binding precedents for lower courts.

The Turkish Supreme Court is a cornerstone of the judicial system, safeguarding legal certainty, consistency, and the rule of law in Türkiye.
