Periscope

Periscope was a live-streaming application launched in 2015 by Twitter. It enabled users to broadcast live video from their mobile devices and interact with viewers in real time through comments and likes.

The app quickly gained popularity for its simplicity and immediacy, allowing individuals, journalists, and organizations to share events as they happened. Periscope played a significant role in the early growth of live-streaming on social media platforms.

Over time, many of its core features were integrated directly into Twitter, leading to a decline in standalone usage. As a result, Twitter officially discontinued Periscope in 2021, shifting its focus to in-platform live video services.

Periscope is considered a pioneering platform in the evolution of live-streaming technology and social media engagement.
