Hague System

Hague System is an international mechanism for the registration of industrial designs, administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization. It enables applicants to seek protection for their designs in multiple countries through a single application filed in one language and with one set of fees.

Under the Hague System, applicants designate the member countries where protection is sought. The International Bureau of WIPO conducts a formal examination, after which the application is forwarded to the designated national or regional offices for substantive examination according to their domestic laws.

This system significantly simplifies the process of obtaining international design protection by reducing administrative burdens and costs. It is particularly beneficial for businesses operating in multiple markets that require consistent protection for product designs.
