Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT) has revised the list of goods and services for trademark applications in line with the 13th Edition of the Nice Classification (NCL), which entered into force on 1 January 2026.
The changes were published in the “Communiqué on the Classification of Goods and Services for Trademark Registration Applications (TÜRKPATENT: 2026/2)" in the Official Gazette (No. 33180 ) on February 26, 2026, and became effective immediately.
Key changes by Class
Class 7
- The term “linings” has been clarified as “brake linings.”
- “Clutch linings for machines and engines, except for those for land vehicles” have been added under a separate heading.
Class 9
- “3D glasses” have been added.
- “Glasses, sunglasses, lenses and their cases, covers, parts and accessories” have been removed from Class 9 and transferred to Class 10.
- “Swimming goggles” and “protective goggles” are now listed under a separate heading.
- The wording “Fire-extinguishing apparatus and devices (including fire hoses and fire hose valves), including firefighting vehicles” has been amended to “Fire-extinguishing apparatus and devices (including fire hoses and fire hose valves)”. Firefighting vehicles have been transferred to Class 12.
Class 10
- “Glasses, sunglasses, lenses and their cases, covers, parts and accessories” have been added under a separate heading (previously in Class 9).
Class 11
- “Aerators for faucets” have been added (previously in Class 21).
- “Electrically heated socks” have been removed and transferred to Class 25.
Class 12
- “Clutch linings for land vehicles” have been added under a separate heading.
- “Firefighting vehicles for land, sea and air” have been added under a separate heading (previously in Class 9).
Class 17
- “Nozzles for sprinkler hose” have been added (previously in Class 21).
Class 21
- The following goods have been deleted:
- “Nozzles for sprinkler hose”
- “Nozzles for watering cans”
- “Watering devices”
- “Garden watering cans”
- “Aerators for faucets”
- “Nozzles for sprinkler hose” have been transferred to Class 17.
- “Aerators for faucets” have been transferred to Class 11.
- The goods “nozzles for watering cans, watering devices, garden watering cans” have been rephrased as: “watering cans for plants and parts therefor, namely nozzles, strainers and spray heads.”
Class 25
- “Electrically heated socks” have been added (previously in Class 11).
Created in 1957 under the Nice Agreement, the NCL is the global standard for classifying goods and services in trademark applications. New editions appear every three years, with annual updates since 2013 to reflect market and technological changes.
