TURKPATENT joins the WIPO Digital Access Service (DAS)
Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TURKPATENT) participated in the Digital Access Service (DAS) of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for electronically exchanging the priority documents.
TURKPATENT will act as a depositing office and render WIPO DAS system operational as from June 01, 2022. From that date onwards, the applicants may request TURKPATENT to make certified copies of applications previously filed in Turkey available to the DAS for the intellectual property (IP) offices participating in the DAS system (called as "participating IP Office"). For that, TURKPATENT will provide an access code to the applicants, by means of which the participating IP office or offices may retrieve the certified priority documents of TURKPATENT via DAS.
The service will be available for patent, utility model, trademark and industrial design applications, including PCT applications filed at TURKPATENT on and after June 1, 2022, for the exchange of the certified priority documents electronically between TURKPATENT and the participating IP Offices.
The WIPO DAS system will enable Turkish applicants to manage their application processes cost-effectively and rapidly in the international arena. Likewise, the foreign applicants will have the same benefits for their IP applications in Turkey.
While the service is available for national industrial property applications, the foreign priority documents for the applications claiming priority from abroad will be submitted to TURKPATENT in the conventional way, as TURKPATENT has not declared itself as an accessing office in its participation in WIPO's DAS system.
The WIPO Digital Access Service (DAS) is an electronic system for the secure exchange of priority documents and similar documents between participating intellectual property (IP) offices. The system allows applicants and offices to meet the Paris Convention requirements for electronic certification. The service offers a simple and safe digital alternative to filing paper copies of priority documents with multiple Offices.
