In cooperation with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT) and the General Directorate for Secondary Education of the Ministry of National Education, a new patent training unit named “Patent Workshop” has been established within the organizational structure of TÜRKPATENT to provide interactive patent education for secondary school and university students.
The Patent Workshop has been designed to increase awareness of intellectual property rights among young people and to encourage innovation-oriented thinking through practical and interactive training activities. The initiative aims to familiarize students with the fundamentals of patent systems and technological innovation at an early stage of education.
Within the scope of the program, students will receive guidance on various topics related to patents and intellectual property, including patent applications, patentability criteria, patent search techniques, collection and analysis of patent information, and access to national and international patent databases. The workshop is also expected to help students better understand the role of patents in research, technology development, entrepreneurship, and industrial innovation.
According to the authorities, the project is planned to be expanded gradually across different levels of education in the future, including kindergartens, as part of broader efforts to promote innovation culture and intellectual property awareness throughout society.
The initiative reflects TÜRKPATENT’s continuing efforts to support innovation ecosystems in Türkiye and to encourage younger generations to engage with science, technology, research, and intellectual property concepts through practical educational programs. By introducing students to patent systems and innovation processes at an early age, the project aims to contribute to the development of future inventors, researchers, entrepreneurs, and technology professionals in Türkiye.
