TÜRKPATENT announced new official fees effective January 01, 2024

Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT) has announced new official fees for patents, utility models, trademarks, and designs, which took effect on January 1, 2024.

Most of the official fees have been increased on average of 30%, while some of the official fees have remained the same without any increase. Some of the frequently paid fees are as follows:

  • Official filing fee for a patent or utility model application increased to 337,24 TRY from 224,74 TRY (33% increase approx.)
  • Official fee for validating a European patent remains the same at 9.061,02 TRY
  • Official fee for PCT national phase entries as a patent remains the same as 5.898,31 TRY
  • Official fee for PCT national phase entries as a utility model remains the same as 3.691,53 TRY
  • Official filing fee for a design application increased to 1.120,23 TRY from 758,58 TRY (32% increase approx.)
  • Official fee for renewal of a design registration increased to 3.432,59 TRY from 2314,34 TRY (33% increase approx.)
  • Official filing fee for a trademark application in one class increased to 1.498,24 TRY from 1.030,54 TRY (33% increase approx.) (1.498,24 TRY for the second class and 1.610,11 TRY for third and each additional class)
  • Official fee for a trademark renewal increased to 4.379,89 TRY from 3.162,29 TRY (28% increase approx.)
  • Official fee for trademark registration increased to 3.522,95 TRY from 2.536,60 TRY (28% increase approx.).

TÜRKPATENT maintains a fixed fee structure for all entities, with the exception of search and examination fees for patents and utility models. The search fee is 1.810,17 TRY for legal entities and 884,75 TRY for real persons, while the examination fee is 1.810,17 TRY for legal entities and 884,75 TRY for real persons.

The official fees in Turkey are reviewed and announced annually, effective January 1st each year. Despite these increases, the official fees remain close to the previously announced fees earlier this year when considered in USD or EUR, primarily due to the significant depreciation of the Turkish lira against major currencies.
