Qualification examinations for becoming a Turkish patent attorney or trademark attorney were held on 11 November 2017 under the supervision of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT).
The examinations were organized to assess the professional knowledge and practical competency of candidates seeking authorization to practice as registered patent or trademark attorneys in Türkiye. As part of the examination process, candidates completed a multiple-choice test consisting of 60 questions, as well as written examination papers designed to evaluate practical skills and professional application of intellectual property law and procedures.
The qualification examinations are conducted once every two years by TÜRKPATENT and constitute an essential requirement for individuals wishing to represent clients before the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office in patent, trademark, industrial design, and other industrial property matters.
The examinations typically cover a broad range of topics related to Turkish industrial property legislation, international intellectual property treaties, prosecution procedures, opposition and appeal processes, and practical aspects of professional representation before the Office. The practical sections are intended to measure candidates’ ability to apply legal and procedural knowledge to real-world intellectual property scenarios.
The attorney qualification system plays an important role in maintaining professional standards within the Turkish intellectual property field and ensuring that qualified representatives possess the necessary expertise to assist both domestic and international rights holders in Türkiye.
