A workshop on the Regulation for inventions made by universities and employees was held by Turkish Patent and Trademark Office
A workshop on the Implementing Regulation for "Employee Inventions, Inventions Made in Higher Education Institutions and Inventions Arising in Public Supported Projects" which had come into force on September 29, 2017 was held on January 11, 2017.
The opening of the workshop was made by Prof. Dr. Habip ASAN, the President of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.
Professor ASAN stated that the views of the interested parties were received in the process of drafting the Regulation, which consists of three main units. He added that the main purpose of the works is to create awareness in the private and pubic sectors, and the universities, to encourage innovation, to create a healthier ecosystem on the subject and to provide contribution to the real economy by commercializing the patents. Professor emphasized that the Regulation is the first of its kind in the country.
The effectively implementation of the Regulation, which is related to a large group of stakeholders of primarily public institutions, private sector, universities, employees, is of great importance on the way to achieving the goals aimed by the new Turkish Industrial Property Code.
Total 110 people from 28 institutions and companies have participated in the workshop for discussing and evaluating the applications related to the Regulation. The workshop was also broadcasted on the internet.
