Geographical Indication and Traditional Product Name Emblem Regulation has been published on 29 December 2017 and will come into force as from 10 January 2018.

The Turkish Patent and Trademark Office has granted geographical indication protection in Türkiye for “Parmigiano Reggiano,” the well-known Italian hard and granular cheese recognized worldwide for its traditional production methods and regional origin.

On 20 November 2017, the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, in cooperation with the Italian Embassy in Türkiye, organized the “Seminar on Turkish and Italian Experiences for Geographical Indications” in Ankara. The event brought together representatives from public institutions, academia, producer associations, and intellectual property professionals to discuss the protection, promotion, and economic value of geographical indications (GIs).
